REBUILDING NEW ORLEANS, ONE BUG AT A TIME
Audubon Insectarium Opens 4D Theater Edutainment Experience
Valencia, CA, Technifex, Inc. announces the opening of the Terminix Immersion Theater at the Audubon Insectarium in New Orleans.
Working with the Audubon Nature Institute, Technifex developed customized “fallen tree” themed seating and special effects for the Immersion Theater as a way to educate and entertain audiences. The seats include motion-bases and effects such as face misters, air blasts, scents, leg ticklers, buzzers and air bladders while the theater has overhead fans and water spritzers. Technifex programmed the overhead and seat effects to coincide with the original film that was produced for the theater. “For unsuspecting audiences, the addition of bugs running under their seats and the scent of flowers, among other effects, is an exciting surprise and keeps guests interested in what will happen next. It keeps them engrossed in the film.” says Tom Perkins, Technifex Project Manager.
The June grand opening is a welcome sight and a long time coming. Originally slated to open in 2005, the theater was being installed when Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. Technifex stayed with the project and helped Audubon overcome many obstacles during this period. “We are pleased to play a small part in the rebuilding of New Orleans and the creation of a truly world class educational facility,” states Monty Lunde, President of Technifex.
